The current disruption caused by the threat of COVID is impacting people in the areas of health, inconvenience, and fear.  Companies are forced to have office workers adopt a telecommuting or work-from-home mode of working to avoid large gatherings of people where disease can be more easily spread. As we’re becoming increasingly proficient with remote work, now the anticipation of relaxed social distancing guidelines is creating even more ambiguity and generating new anxieties within the workforce.

While technology makes distance work possible, it doesn’t change the need for people to be led, motivated, and feel connected. Plus, the seemingly endless layering of fears, anxieties and unknowns are driving the workplace, whether virtual or in-person, into a convergence of personal and professional personas.   A manager’s job keeps getting harder and the risk of losing people or people becoming distressed has gotten much higher. If it wasn’t clear before the pandemic, it is now: the manager’s responsibilities have officially extended beyond a transactional relationship into a wholly connected relationship.

Employee Investment Sessions: “Lunch and Learns for a 21st Century Workforce” – Series of employee webinars on various personal and professional growth topics

“I’m not alone”, group meetings: Imagine the format of a study hall but over zoom and with a coach who is there to keep you motivated. The employees will know times available when they can log in and think and work together while being motivated by a coach who can keep you moving forward and increase productivity.

Professional Development virtual Book Club: We will be starting soon a zoom professional development book club where we all read the same book during two weeks and then have a discussion facilitated by a professional coach on how the book applies to our professional life.

Planning for the future in a world of uncertainty:  Coaching sessions to plan for the future as all the pieces around us are moving. We will tackle and leverage on the few things that we can still control and use the uncertainty in our advantage while we make sure that we keep moving forward.

Meet Amy Robertson
Amy Robertson has over 25 years of dynamic experience, holding past global executive and senior leadership positions at ChannelAdvisor Corporation, Red Hat, Inc. and AICPA. Her early career experience started in consulting with Aon Hewitt in their actuarial and consulting departments. Amy holds a bachelor’s degree from NC State University in Applied Mathematics. She is passionate about her alma mater and is on the board of directors for the NC State College of Sciences Foundation and is a past commencement speaker for the department of mathematics. She is also passionate about mental health and serves on the board of directors for NAMI NC and is a facilitator for education in Wake County for caregivers of youth with mental health struggles.
